What to expect on your first visit

A new patient can expect to spend around an hour at the office for their first visit.  This will allow for the normal office procedures of filling out the general paperwork and time to do a history, exam, x-rays if necessary and get your first adjustment.  If you would like to fill out paperwork ahead of time you click below to print off the documents.

History:

Dr. Jason will ask the appropriate questions specific to your condition. Information gathered will consist of present and past health conditions, accidents, surgeries, medications and previous treatment for your condition.  This will help direct the doctor in determining the best route in starting your care.  If you present with conditions outside of the scope of chiropractic, Dr. Jason will refer you to the appropriate facility.

Instrumentation:

Dr. Jason will use a highly sensitive heat reading instrument called a nervoscope.  This enables the doctor to specifically find the area of irritation in the nervous system as they correspond to misaligned vertebra.

Static Palpation:
Palpating or feeling the spine for areas of tenderness and inflammation helping to locate problematic areas.  Typically when the spinal joints are under distress there is swelling present much like the swelling when an ankle is sprained.  Many times when there are misalignments in the spine the offending vertebrae are hyper-sensitive as well.  Palpation also allows the doctor to count the exact vertebra being adjusted and a precise follow-up with future care.

Motion Palpation:
The spinal joints will be taken through a range of motion while feeling the individual motion of those joints.  Through this process any loss of normal motion is detected and is known as a "fixation".

X-rays:
X-rays will be the final piece of analysis of your spine to show the condition of the spinal joints and the direction for correction for those misalignments.  Much like when completing the construction of a house blue prints are necessary, when adjusting the spine x-rays aid in the instructions for proper correction.  Seeing is knowing, and without seeing, is guesswork.

Adjustment:
If a subluxation (or misalignment) is detected in your spine, Dr. Jason will perform a specific adjustment to regain the motion of the vertebra and decrease the interference with the nerve.  The adjustment consists of a gentle thrust with the doctors hands on the desired vertebra.
